6.8 quake jolts Myanmar; tremors felt in Bengal, Bihar, Assam in India
Hours after Italy was rocked by a major earthquake of 6.1 on the Richter scale on Wednesday morning, an earthquake measuring 6.8 struck Myanmar. Tremors were also felt in Bengal, Bihar and Assam in India.
According to reports, the quake`s epicenter was 143 km west of the city Meiktila at a depth of 58 km. It was quite a strong earthquake that caused buildings to shake vigorously across the region.

Following the tremors, Metro services in the city of Kolkata were disrupted and had to be stopped as a precautionary measure. Later the services were restored. Also, many offices were closed.

In Patna, Bihar, several people evacuated their houses after earthquake tremors were felt in the city.
