Azerbaijan showcases new armored fighting vehicle
A new model of armored fighting vehicle Gurza (Viper), produced by Azerbaijan’s Defense Industry Ministry, has been demonstrated at the ADEX 2016 – 2nd Azerbaijan International Defence Industry Exhibition.
The exhibition is taking place in the Baku Expo Center.

An employee of the Defense Industry Ministry Mahir Bayramov told on Sept. 28 that the new model was created on the basis of Toyota Hilux pickup. Its engine volume is 2,500 cubic centimeters.

The vehicle is 5,270 mm long, 1,680 mm wide and 2,120 mm high.

Bayramov said the difference of the new armored fighting vehicle from the usual version of Gurza is that three kinds of weapons can be installed on it - NSV-12.7 mm heavy machine gun, AGS-30 automatic mounted grenade launcher and a turret for anti-tank guided missiles.

“It will take only three minutes to change one type of weapon to another on the new vehicle,” said Bayramov. “In addition, two 7.62 mm machine guns are installed on the sides of the vehicle.”

Bayramov added that the 7.62 mm machine guns fire 800 rounds per minute and can be used to fire at a distance of up to 1,500 meters.
