President Aliyev made the remarks during a meeting with Croatian President Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in an expanded format in Baku Oct. 24.
“Today we had the opportunity to conduct extensive exchange of views on bilateral, regional and security issues. As you can see, the positions of Azerbaijan and Croatia coincide on these issues,” he said.
The head of state stressed the need for development of bilateral cooperation.
“Now there is good possibility for this. The two countries enjoy good political ties, and Croatian president’s visit to Azerbaijan once again shows it,” he added.
Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of energy cooperation between the two countries.
“We are involved in the Southern Gas Corridor project, which is being implemented on schedule,” he added.
The president said Azerbaijan cooperates with the European Union, in which Croatia plays an important role.
Azerbaijan and Croatia have established close cooperation in many areas, said President Aliyev, underlining the need to consider opportunities for development of bilateral relations in trade and economic spheres.
Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that Croatian president’s visit to Azerbaijan will be successful and will be another important step towards the development of friendly relations.
