French-Azerbaijani University to operate in new building for next academic year
The French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) will be operating in a newly repaired building for the next academic year, said Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez.
She made the remarks at the opining ceremony of the university in Baku Sept. 15.

The ambassador said a group of French teachers will also share their experience at the university, noting that the opening of the new university will contribute to economic development and attraction of foreign investment in the country.

“The UFAZ project is indicative of high-level cooperation in the area of education and the level of France-Azerbaijan relations. The establishment of this university, which became possible on the will of the French and Azerbaijani presidents, is a fine project for both countries,” Bouchez added.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijan’s Education Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said universities of high brand and education from both countries have been selected for the realization of the UFAZ project.

“I would like to emphasize the support of Azerbaijan’s first lady Mehriban Aliyeva in the timely and successful realization of this project. We do believe that UFAZ in the near future is going to be one of the outstanding universities of the region. We think the UFAZ project is likely to expand and begin to offer new specialties,” he said.

Marianne de Brunhoff, Director for European and International Relations and Cooperation at the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research, stressed that UFAZ graduates will be active participants in Azerbaijan’s social and economic life, adding that a lot of work has been done in the last 1.5 year for this project. She noted that UFAZ graduates will contribute to the future development of both countries.
