Saudi Airlines jet is `isolated` at Manila airport over hijack fears - VIDEO
A Saudi Arabian Airlines jet was at the centre of a hijack alert - after the pilot twice sent out a distress call by mistake.
The Boeing 777 was isolated by police officials at Manila`s Ninoy Aquino International airport in the Philippines this morning after the pilot reported the plane was `under threat`.

But it has since been claimed that the pilot wrongly hit the alarm button on two occasions as the aircraft was close to landing.

Metropolitan Manila’s police chief travelled to the airport having stated there was an unfolding `situation`.

According to Airlive, flight SV872 landed at Manila airport at 3pm local time having flown in from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

The pilot is understood to have told the communications tower that the plane, carrying about 300 passengers, was `under threat`.

But Saudi State television has since said that the incident was a false alarm and crew are understood to have sent out a distress call in error.

Twitter pictures show emergency services at the scene and passengers starting to disembark.
