US Simon Wiesenthal Center associate dean visits Guba Genocide Memorial Complex
Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center of the U.S. Rabbi Abraham Cooper has visited Azerbaijan’s Guba district.
Head of Guba District Executive Power Yashar Mammadov informed the guests about the district.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper visited the Red Settlement (Qırmızı Qesebe) densely populated by mountain Jews. He familiarized with two synagogues and the cultural center in the district.

Cooper also visited Guba Genocide Memorial Complex and the mass graveyard. He was informed that the mass graveyard was revealed in 1 April 2007 during excavation works. Later, employees of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences conducted extensive researches which revealed that the graveyard was related to the genocide committed in 1918 by Armenians against civilians. After familiarization, the guest signed the guestbook of the complex.
