Baku Declaration adopted during 7th UNAOC Global Forum
Baku Declaration was adopted during a ministerial meeting held as part of the 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations Apr.26.
This statement was made by UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser.

Maltese President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca noted that the Baku Declaration includes some peace initiatives too.

“To get our dreams fulfilled, we must protect human rights and freedoms as well as solidarity, and acquire a peace culture. People are concerned by growing inequality. We must stick to the slogan of social inclusiveness,” the president said, noting that the Baku Declaration will promote the principles of justice and equality for everyone.

The document says that the Baku Declaration emphasizes the importance of respect and understanding for cultural and hereditary diversity, calling to tolerance, respect, dialogue and cooperation between different cultures, civilizations, and peoples.

The Baku Declaration stressed the Alliance of Civilizations, as a universal value in expanding peace, security, and development, will expanding its role as a moderator. The document also emphasizes that universal cultural diversity and cultural heritage should be protected by everyone as a peace factor and development between all peoples. The document expresses concern over growing illegal acts taking place on a regular basis against cultural heritages, stressing the importance of respect for cultural heritage for the promotion of peace and security, human rights and sustainable development.

The declaration calls for cooperation in intercultural and interfaith dialogue, tolerance, pluralism, and mutual respect, praising the adoption of “2030 Sustainable Development Agenda”.

The document expresses concern over acts resulting in the death of innocent people, destruction and refugee problems, intolerance, violent extremism, violence and terrorism.
