  Azerbaijan, UNESCO explore prospects for cooperation

Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, met with Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO, on the sidelines of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and UNESCO, as well as prospects for collaboration within COP29, the Foreign Ministry told AzVision.az. 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov underlined that since the restoration of its independence, Azerbaijan has closely cooperated with UNESCO, contributing to the organization’s activities in education, protection of cultural heritage, and promotion of intercultural dialogue. The FM highlighted the partnership in organizing the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue as a positive example of continued cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO.

Gabriela Ramos underscored the opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO in areas such as intercultural dialogue, gender equality, youth affairs, and ethical aspects of applying modern technologies like artificial intelligence.

Regarding the preparation for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, hosted by Azerbaijan this year, Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the country’s chairmanship aims to develop cooperation with different countries and international organizations in combating climate change, which requires an integrated approach.

The parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
