Ankara hosts 11th meeting of Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye

The 11th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye was held in Ankara.

Co-chaired by Ali Asadov, the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, and Cevdet Yilmaz, the Vice President of Türkiye, the event brought together government officials from both countries.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized that the relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye have reached the highest level of strategic partnership and alliance, thanks to the joint efforts of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

They hailed the dynamic development of relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye across various sectors, including economy, trade, investment, transport, energy, industry, agriculture, and humanitarian initiatives.

Both sides underlined that in 2023, the mutual trade turnover between the two countries increased by 31% to reach a record $7.65 billion, and expressed determination to achieve the goal set by the heads of state to increase the volume of trade turnover to $15 billion.

They also commended the growth in cooperation in the field of transport, adding that in 2023, the volume of cargo transportation between the two countries increased by 42.5%.

The meeting highlighted mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in investments, renewable energy, agriculture, water resources management, climate change mitigation, preparations for COP29, healthcare, culture, tourism, and other areas.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz signed the Protocol of the 11th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye.

The meeting also saw the signing of Memorandums of Understanding and an Action Plan on cooperation.
