Ancient head found during bridge construction in Crimea
A terracotta head was discovered by archaeologists during the underwater excavations in the area of construction of the bridge across the Kerch Strait. Scientists believe that this is an image of an ancient Greek deity, made in the form of a bust or statue, the info center 'Crimean Bridge' reported.
According to experts, this discovery is unique for the Northern Black Sea region.

The head of the submarine detachment of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Sergei Olkhovsky, said that to clarify the functional purpose of the statue, origin and dating, leading experts in ancient Greek art will be attracted, and laboratory analyzes of the clay composition will be carried out. "At the moment we believe that the terracotta head was made in Asia Minor in the 5th century BC," RIA Novosti cited Olkhovsky as saying.

All the findings are transferred to the funds of the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve.
