London attack: Eight arrests in attack aftermath - UPDATED
Police arrested eight people in overnight raids in Birmingham and London following the attack at Westminster, Britain's top anti-terrorism officer said.
"We have searched six addresses and made seven arrests. The inquiries in Birmingham and other parts of the country are continuing," Mark Rowley said outside London's police headquarters.

Seven people have been arrested and six addresses raided in London, Birmingham and elsewhere in the country in connection with the attack, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley says.

Speaking outside Scotland Yard he said 29 people injured in the attack have been treated in hospital and seven remained in a critical condition.

Fresh details have emerged about the raid overnight in Birmingham, however it is still not known if it is connected to the London attack.

A witness who works nearby told the Press Association: "The man from London lived here."

Officers stormed a second-floor flat above a row of shops on Hagley Road at around 11pm, the witness said.

He added: "They came and arrested three men."

One of the flat's windows was covered in cardboard, with non-uniformed officers spotted taking pieces of equipment into the property.

BBC Newsnight reported there was a suggestion the car used in the attack was hired from an address in Birmingham. However, this has not been confirmed.
