The attack on the British Parliament has condemned by leaders from across the globe. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee had also criticised the act and said the country stood by the United Kingdom in support.

The Islamic State (IS) on Thursday claimed responsibility for the dastardly London attack on Wednesday that left four people, including the assailant, dead. At least 29 people were injured in the incident.

“The perpetrator of the attacks yesterday in front of the British parliament in London is an Islamic State soldier and he carried out the operation in response to calls to target citizens of the coalition,” a statement by the IS group’s news agency Amaq read.

The attack on the British Parliament has condemned by leaders from across the globe. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee had also criticised the act and said the country stood by the United Kingdom in support.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May had pledged action against the terrorists and asked the citizens not to “waver in the face of terrorism”.

“An act of terrorism tried to silence our democracy,” May told a packed House of Commons.

May had also revealed details about the attacker in her address.

“His identity is known to the police and MI5 and when operational considerations allow, he will be publicly identified,” she had said.

May further added, “What I can confirm is that the man was British-born and that some years ago he was once investigated by MI5 in relation to concerns about violent extremism. There was no prior intelligence of his intent or of the plot.”

The UK Police has arrested eight people following Wednesday’s devastating terror attack.
