Azerbaijani MP slams Armenians at meeting of PACE session
Vusal Huseynov, the member of the Group of the European People`s Party, the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE and the Azerbaijani MP made speech at the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) spring session, AzVision.az reports.
The Azerbaijani MP touched upon the 25th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide committed by the Armenian Armed Forces in 1992 calling the world to commemorate the victims of the genocide.

"613 people were killed, 487 were seriously injured and 1275 were taken hostage, while the fate of another 197 people remains unknown. I think if this kind of crimes go unpunished and the justice is not served, we can be a victim of this kind of crimes, as well ", Mr. Huseynov stated.

"Armenians MPs attending this meeting know well about the genocide. The Armenian government is responsible for this indisputable massacre. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan confessed it in his interview and you can easily find his interview in the internet. Now, I am reading the interview to you: Azerbaijani people used to think Armenians could not use force against them. We had to change their thoughts. And it happened", Huseynov noted.

"All these were said by the president of the coutry which is a member of the European Council. Armenia presents itself as a "victim". However, the world must be aware of the real facts behind the crimes committed in the Armenian-occupied Azerbaijani territories.

We have to talk about these massacres in order to avoid possible massacres in the future and establish justice. The continuation of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia poses hazard to the security in the region. Azerbaijan supports the peace and is interested in the peaceful settlement of the conflict. Let's have a look at Armenia's approach to the peaceful resolution. In this regard, we can talk about the “Armenia-Azerbaijan Platform for Peace”. For the purposes of contributing to the peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenia-Azerbaijan Platform for Peace was established on Dec. 6, 2016. The Platform is an initiative of the citizens of Azerbaijan and Armenia who wish to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict. Many Armenian human rights defenders joined the promotion of the platform and conferences held within the platform. Armenia put pressure on the peace initiative of the civil society. They have launched campaign against the platform. The members and activists of the civil society groups and NGOs were arrested for different excuses. The members of the Armenian media called them betrayer. Furthermore, they called to punish and even kill the participants of the conference which was held in Baku", the MP said.

"How can we expect the representatives of the civil society groups achieve peace and make a dialogue?", the MP addressed.
