EU says Baku talks on new agreement with Azerbaijan were ‘productive’
The talks recently held in Baku on a new draft agreement between the EU and Azerbaijan were productive, said Director of the Eastern Partnership, Russia, Central Asia and the OSCE at the European External Action Service Luc Devigne.
He made the remarks at a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Wednesday.

The EU representative said contacts will continue through meetings and video conferences to finalize the talks as soon as possible.

He also highlighted the existence of opportunities for expansion of cooperation in the field of trade and transport between Azerbaijan and the EU.

Mammadyarov, in turn, recalled Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to Brussels, noting that the meetings held and statements made during the visit paved the way for the development of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation.

Touching on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mammadyarov stressed the importance of taking an approach on the basis of respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty of states within their internationally recognized borders in relation to protracted conflicts, as prescribed in the Global Strategy for the European Union's Foreign and Security Policy.
