Opening ceremony of Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games - VIDEO, PHOTOS, UPDATED
The opening ceremony of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games is being held on the Baku Olympic Stadium.
People's Artist of Azerbaijan and a prominent mugham singer Alim Gasimov performed Adhan.

Later, a film was screened showing the different people of all ages from Islamic World.

The First Vise-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva makes speech at the opening ceremony, AzVision.az reports.

The First Lady greeted the guests noting that to host such a big event in Azerbaijan is a great honor for us.

Azerbaijani athletes join the parade of the athletes particpating from 54 different countries. The parade of our team was welcomed warmly.

Azerbaijan is represented by 425 athletes. Their parade was accompanied with performance of naghara drums. 5 times World Karate Champion Rafael Aghayev carried Azerbaijan`s National Flag.

Azerbaiani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva greeted the athletes.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva are taking part in the event.

Over 3,000 athletes from 54 countries, around 2,000 representatives of teams and technical staff are taking part in the games.

Azerbaijan is represented by 325 athletes. Turkey has the most representative delegation consisting of 345 athletes. Iran with 300 athletes ranks third.
