 President Ilham Aliyev receives Deputy Secretary General of the CoE -  UPDATED

On May 2, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, AzVision.az reports citing the presidential press service.

Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni called Azerbaijan a decent member of the Council of Europe, adding that Baku Process is a successful platform for the Council of Europe. Noting that this process has been expanding into a major movement since 2008, the guest noted that intercultural dialogue is an important process that can bring major changes. Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe thanked President Ilham Aliyev for his support for the continuation of this process.

President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated the views of the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, on Azerbaijan at the opening ceremony of the forum. The Head of State stressed that such an important international conference is not only dialogue oriented but also contributes to the building of cultural bridges. 

Noting that Azerbaijan is a member of both the Council of Europe and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, President Ilham Aliyev said that our country promotes intercultural and inter-civilizational dialogue through the "Baku Process".

The sides exchanged views on a number of issues on the agenda of the Council of Europe.
