The “ASAN Service” practice should be promoted in other countries, the Under Secretary-General of the United Nations for Economic and Social Affairs, Liu Zhenmin, told reporters in Baku on Monday, AzVision.az reports.

The UN official is on a visit to the Azerbaijani capital to attend the UN Public Service Forum.

“I’m very happy to be in Azerbaijan. I’d like to thank President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and the people of Azerbaijan for their hospitality and support,” he said.

Liu Zhenmin hailed the importance of the UN Public Service Forum in terms of promoting public services on a global scale.

“We also promote such projects in other countries by awarding prizes in the area of public services. There are good examples of public services in Azerbaijan, including the “ASAN Service.” The government of Azerbaijan offers services to the people through this project. The “ASAN Service” practice should be promoted in other countries. I’d like to than the Azerbaijani government on behalf of the UN,” he added.

Co-organized by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Nations, the UN Public Service Forum kicked off at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on Monday. First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of the Forum.

The Forum is annually held ahead of the UN Public Service Day since June 23, 2003. The purpose of the Forum is to hold discussions related to the issues on public administration, advanced public service delivery models, innovations and relevant topics in this field, as well as to ensure interstate exchange of advanced practices in this area.
