 Iranian do not support

The Iranian Embassy to Azerbaijan commented on the news about the participation of Iranian sportsmen in the 'Pan-Armenian Games' which will be held in Khankandi, the Embassy made a statement.

The Embassy stated that they do not have reliable information about 'Pan-Armenian games' to be held in the occupied Azerbaijani territories.

“Related authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran do not approve this news and state that Iran is not aware of this step and does not support it. If this case happens, it is an illegal act and has not been allowed by the state. Maybe it happens on an individual basis. Taking into account the friendly relations between the two countries, we will do our best to prevent Iranian athletes from participating in these games even if it is individually,”- stated in the report of the embassy.

Note that recently Armenian media reported that on 4 August an opening Ceremony of Pan-Armenian Games will be held in Azerbaijan's occupied Khankandi district and sportsmen from several countries, as well as more than 200 from Iran, will attend the games.
