Azerbaijani president’s special rep comments on Keshikchi Gala border post incident

On July 14, a group of people committed a criminal act of a provocative nature against the Azerbaijani border guards and the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, said Khalaf Khalafov, Azerbaijani President’s special representative for border and the Caspian Sea issues, AzVision.az reported citing AZERTAC.

Commenting on the incident at the Keshikchi Gala border post, Khalafov said: “I believe that this incident has nothing to do with the government of Georgia, but the Georgian border guards are responsible for the entry of these provocateurs and criminal elements to the territory of Azerbaijan”

The special representative stressed that such provocations and incidents, of course, undermine the friendly relations, good neighborliness and strategic partnership between the two countries.

“Those responsible for this crime should be brought to justice and punished in accordance with the law,” Khalafov added.
