Construction of Azerbaijan’s Pirshagi waste water treatment almost complete

More than 90 percent of the construction work of the first modern Pirshagi waste water treatment plant in Azerbaijan, jointly funded by the Azerbaijani government and the Export-Import Bank of Korea, has been completed, Azvision.az reports on Sept. 5 referring to the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company.

The 400-meter part of the plant has been installed onshore, while the 1,300-meter part offshore.

The complex will prevent the discharge of wastewater into the Caspian Sea in a big area of the north-eastern part of the Absheron Peninsula. The complex will treat wastewater generated in Kurdakhani, Pirshagi, Mashtaga, Bilga, Nardaran, Muhammadi, Digah, Mehtiabad, Goradil, Fatmai and Novkhani settlements.

The project is important from the point of view of protecting the environmental safety of the Caspian Sea.
