  Azerbajian provided humanitarian assistance to 29 countries - Ilham Aliyev 

"Measures taken against the coronavirus pandemic enabled us to control the situation and minimize the number of losses. The World Health Organization presented Azerbaijan as an exemplary country for fighting the coronavirus," President Ilham Aliyev stated  at the Summit of the Eastern Partnership countries held in a video format on June 18. 

The head of state noted that Azerbaijan, which was elected chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in 2019 with decision of 120 member countries, organized summit on COVID-19 in an online format on May 4. 

"We highly appreciate participation of the European Union and the African Union in this event. I would like to thank the High Representative Mr. Josep Borrell for his video address. We hope that this will be the beginning of active cooperation between the EU and NAM. 

We also proposed holding a special meeting of the UN General Assembly at the level of heads of state and government on COVID-19 in format of video conference. Azerbaijan has allocated $ 10 million of financial assistance to the World Health Organization voluntarily to fight the pandemic. So far, our country has provided humanitarian assistance to 29 countries and plans to continue this work," President Ilham Aliyev underline.
