Armenia involves Syrian & Lebanese mercenaries in military operations, says Hikmet Hajiyev

Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev denied the allegations on the use of mercenaries in the military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh region stating that Azerbaijan has a regular, professional army in his interview with Al Jazeera.

“The Azerbaijani Army is able to successfully fulfill its tasks. Those, who claim that Azerbaijan brought mercenaries from abroad,  do not say anything specific, but simply say, 'There are foreign mercenaries in Karabakh”. On the other hand, Armenia involved Syrian and Lbeanes mercenaries to fight against the Azerbaijani Army in the military operations”, Hikmet Hajiyev noted.

Azerbaijani President’s Aide also highlighted that European, Canadian and US citizens of Armenian origin currently fight on the Armenian side: “We have information that Armenia also uses terrorist PKK militants. Azerbaijan is a small country. If there were mercenaries here, everyone would know and hear about it”.

“No one has seen or heard of the mercenaries. I think that these allegations are part of Armenia's black propaganda. Armenians cannot accept that it is the victorious Azerbaijani Army that stands in front of them and defeats them. The opposite side also makes fake claims that the Turkish Army took part in this war. Turkey provides us with moral, diplomatic and political support. There is no third party in this war. The Azerbaijani Army is fighting for the liberation of our territories from the Armenian occupation”, Hajiyev added.
