More planes carrying Russian peacekeepers head to Karabakh

Eight more planes carrying Russian peacekeepers are travelling to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, reports citing the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.

According to the ministry, 8 Il-76 planes with peacekeepers departed from Ulyanovsk for Nagorno-Karabakh. The plane will deliver more than 10 heavy vehicles and more than 100 servicemen to the airport in Armenia.

In total, 42 planes from Russia have already left for the region up to now.

On November 10, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement to end six weeks of fierce fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers are being deployed along the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the corridor between the region and Armenia.

A total of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers are to be deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh under a five-year mandate.
