Azerbaijani engineer’s body to be sent home as soon as Turkish cargo ship enters Gabon port

As soon as the M/V MOZART ship, owned by a Turkish company, enters a Gabonese port, measures will be taken to send home the body of Azerbaijani engineer Farman Ismayilov, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Sunday, AzVision.az reports.

Noting that the ship has already reached the coastal waters of Gabon, Cavusoglu said he had contacted the ship’s captain a while ago.

“The ship is currently waiting to enter the port safely. Negotiations were held with the Gabonese side to send technical assistance to the ship,” he added.

The minister stressed that coordinated work is underway to ensure the release of the crew hijacked by pirates.

The Turkish cargo ship was attacked by pirates off the coast Guinea late Saturday during which 15 sailors were kidnapped and one Azerbaijani sailor was killed.
