On the initiative of the YASHAT Foundation, with the support of the Israeli Embassy in Baku and the National Center for Ophthalmology named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva, a delegation of ophthalmologists from Israel arrived in Azerbaijan to provide medical and humanitarian assistance.

The 8-member delegation arrived in Azerbaijan within the framework of humanitarian aid for ophthalmologic surgery and medical treatment of veterans wounded in the Patriotic War, the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan told AzVision.az.

Doctors will conduct examinations and operations of the military servicemen who have received eye injuries.

In two days, Israeli doctors examined 123 veterans. Five of them have already been operated on, and another 20 people will undergo surgery in the coming days.

On 8 December 2020, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the establishment of the YASHAT Foundation in order to support the war-wounded and families of martyrs who protected the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Under the presidential order, the funds of the Foundation are formed through voluntary financial assistance (donations) provided by citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijanis living abroad, other individuals and legal entities, as well as other sources not prohibited by law.
