 Groundbreaking ceremony of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant held   

New era begins in Turkey-Russia Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant joint project, says Russian President Putin, AzVision.az reports citing the Anadolu Agency. 

"Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant joint project to significantly contribute to Turkey's energy security, further strengthen economy. Decision to include nuclear power in Turkey's national energy infrastructure is strategic step for energy supply security," said Russian President. 

Most stringent security measures followed in Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant Project, we do our best to make project environmentally friendly, Putin also added. 

Turkish president says share of domestic, renewable energy in country's installed power has reached level of 63.7%

"Turkey's discovery of 405 billion cubic meters of natural gas in Black Sea important step towards energy independence. Turkey aims to add nuclear, which makes zero carbon emissions and is environmentally harmless, to country's energy production. Nuclear energy has special role in Turkey's energy policy, country to become among those with nuclear power on its centennial year. Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant to produce 35B kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, to meet around 10% of Turkey’s power consumption. We equip Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant with most advanced security systems, ensure it complies with Int’l Atomic Energy Agency standards," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
