Azerbaijan may launch production of Russia’s COVID-19 vaccines

Moscow and Baku are considering the launch of the production of Russia’s COVID-19 vaccines in Azerbaijan, Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said during a meeting with Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova, AzVision.az reports.

“We will continue to cooperate with you in this area. Russia is increasing the production of its vaccines on a weekly basis. We are not only supplying our vaccines, but also, as far as I know, the production of these vaccines in Azerbaijan is also being considered. This will allow Sputnik-V vaccine to export to other countries,” she said.

Matviyenko stressed that Baku and Moscow agreed on the delivery of Russia’s Sputnik-V vaccine to Azerbaijan.

“We are open to cooperation, we do not hide anything, and we do not pursue commercial goals. We want to make a significant contribution to the ongoing fight against the pandemic on a global scale,” she added.
