Russia is in favor of strengthening the United Nations’ leading role in international affairs and believes it is essential to use its capabilities to the fullest in order to respond to global challenges, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Friday at a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Moscow, AzVision.az reports citing TASS.
"I would like to point out once again that Russia is in favor of strengthening the UN’s leading role in world affairs. We believe it is necessary to use the capabilities of the United Nations in a collective response to global challenges and threats to the fullest," he stressed.
According to Mishustin, it is important to ensure the supremacy of international law, guarantee strict observance of the principles of the UN Charter and decisions made by the UN Security Council. "Russia will continue to back the United Nations and seek to bolster its authority in the world," he assured.
