Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov will take part in the meeting of the Caspian littoral states' foreign ministers on June 28, 2022, Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said during a weekly briefing on June 22, AzVision.az reports citing TASS.

She said that the meeting is devoted to preparations for the Sixth Caspian Summit, which is to be held in Turkmenistan's Ashgabat on June 29, 2022.

Moreover, Zakharova noted the previous ministerial meeting in the corresponding format, held in Kazakhstan's port city Aktau on August 11, 2018.

"The meeting, organized on the eve of the Fifth Caspian Summit, witnessed the signing of a historical Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea," she added. "It's scheduled to review cooperation in the Caspian Sea and discuss the further collaboration modalities for the upcoming meeting of leaders of five Caspian littoral states [Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russian, Iran, and Turkmenistan] at the Council of Foreign Ministers in Ashgabat".
