Azerbaijan’s Embassy hosts first ever official celebration of country’s National Independence Day in Israel

Azerbaijan’s Embassy in the State of Israel has today hosted its first ever official event in the country to mark Azerbaijan’s National Independence Day.

Azerbaijani and Israeli officials as well as ambassadors accredited in Israel, city mayors, and vice-mayors, rectors of universities, experts of leading think tanks and media representatives attended the event.

Opening the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Israel Mukhtar Mammadov noted it is the first event to officially celebrate Azerbaijan’s National Independence Day in Israel since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The ambassador provided insight into Azerbaijan’s history of independence and the country’s struggle for independence. He also said that Azerbaijani-Israel relations established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev had been elevated to the level of strategic partnership.

Israeli Minister of Intelligence Gila Gamlidel said that she was honored to participate in the first event dedicated to Azerbaijan’s National Independence Day. She noted that bilateral relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect and trust. She also stressed the role of Azerbaijan’s Jewish community in development of relations between the two countries.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev said that the year 2023 marks the 105th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Deputy Minister said that Azerbaijani-Israeli relations have seen big progress in various areas, stressing the vast potential for their further development.
