"Int’l rules can be applied regarding controversial deposits in Caspian Sea"
There are Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan-Russia and Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan-Russia documents on the division of the Caspian seabed, and the draft convention reflects the framework principles of these documents, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told reporters on Wednesday, AzVision.az reported.
“We will continue negotiating with Iran and Turkmenistan in a bid to reach and work out relevant agreements,” said Khalafov.

He noted that talks on oil fields are unproductive while there are discussions on the issue of delimitation.

“Currently, the main goal is delimitation. If there are deposits on the dividing lines, international rules – joint use or other options – can be applied,” added Khalafov.
