Azerbaijan proposes to change PACE monitoring procedure

The monitoring procedure carried out by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) should be changed, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, chairman of the parliamentary committee on international and interparliamentary relations Samad Seyidov said.

Seyidov made the remarks at the PACE winter session in Strasbourg Jan. 25.

The PACE established a monitoring procedure in 1993.

The declared goal of monitoring is to make sure that all the Council of Europe countries stand in the common legal and political framework defined in accordance with the standards of the Council of Europe, the principles of the rule of law, parliamentary democracy and the protection of human rights.
