U.S. says respect for human rights ‘important element’ of bilateral relations
The long-term position of the U.S. government is that respect for human rights and fundamental values is an important element of bilateral relations, Bridget Brink, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the US State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, told reporters in Baku on Wednesday.

The U.S. believes that respect for human rights, the fight against corruption and the observance of the rule of law are important in terms of ensuring the business environment and stability in Azerbaijan, Brink noted.

“As President Donald Trump said, the U.S. has the closest ties with countries that share its values and interests. These points are important parts in deepening bilateral relations. I consider that both parties pursue these goals,” she added.
