House votes to end government shutdown
The House voted to end the brief federal government shutdown, passing a sweeping bipartisan budget bill that funds the government through March 23 and lifts stiff spending caps. President Donald Trump is expected to sign it quickly into law, Politico reports.

The measure faced opposition from the right and left, but lawmakers were loath to continue another shutdown and many were eager to see higher spending on defense and domestic programs.
