High voter turnout at Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions abroad - MFA

High voter turnout is observed at polling stations opened in Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions abroad, Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told.

"In line with the difference in time, voting has come to a close at a polling station set up in Azerbaijan’s Embassy in the People's Republic of China," Hajiyev said.

He noted that a high voter turnout has been recorded of the citizens registered at the embassy.

"In accordance with the local time, a polling station opened in Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Washington more than an hour ago. After about half an hour, a polling station will open at Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Los Angeles. Generally, the Consulate General in Los Angeles will be the last to close down. The voting results at the polling stations established at our diplomatic missions are reported to the 17th and 16th Yasamal constituencies," he added.

Azerbaijan is holding presidential elections today, on April 11. Eight candidates are registered for participating in the election.

The election is observed by 894 international observers and 58,175 local observers.

The voting will end at 19:00 local time.
