ACES Europe’s secretary general: Ganja has more chances to win European City of Sport title

“Azerbaijan`s second largest city of Ganja has more chances to win the European City of Sport title for 2019,” the Secretary General of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe) Hugo Alonso has told journalists after a meeting with representatives of sports organizations and media, and athletes in Ganja.

The president of European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe) Gian Francesco Lupattelli, vice-president of the organization John Swanson, member of the Board of Directors Lukáš Vorel-Adams, Head of International Development Department Xavier Rodrigo were also among the attendants of the meeting.

President of ACES Europe Gian Francesco Lupattelli hailed the overall sporting environment and described Ganja as a young and lively city.

Every year, ACES Europe, which comprises of 500 cities, awards from 9 to 19 of them with the European City of Sport title and one with the European Capital of Sport. Forty cities have already submitted their bids for the European City of Sport title for 2019.

The list of the winning cities of the European City of Sport title will be announced two weeks later.
