Armenia’s occupation policy hinders peace in region: Azerbaijani parl’t speaker

Armenia’s occupation policy hinders peace and stability in the region, said Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov.

The parliamentary speaker made the remarks at the summit of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Istanbul on May 16.

Emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in boosting interstate ties, Asadov said that Azerbaijan carries out fruitful work in this field within the framework of the PABSEC, as well as in bilateral relations.

Asadov hailed the projects jointly initiated by Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia.

He stressed that Armenia’s occupation policy hinders the enhancement of relations between regional countries.

“The Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict does not only impede Azerbaijan’s development, but also poses a serious to peace and stability in the region and the world,” the speaker said.

Asadov expressed confidence that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will soon be resolved within the principles of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders.

He added that the elimination of the aggression against Azerbaijan can open new pages of regional cooperation.
