Those who face sanctions in PACE are the ones who support Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity - Azerbaijani MP

Those who face sanctions in the Parliamentary Assembly of theCouncil of Europe (PACE) are the ones who fully support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in respect of the Armenian occupation, Samad Seyidov, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE told a press conference on Wednesday.

The PACE Committee on Rules of Procedure on Wednesday decided to impose sanctions on Pedro Agramunt (Spain, EPP/CD) for a period of ten years, and Cezar Florin Preda (Romania, EPP/CD), Samad Seyidov(Azerbaijan, EC) and Jordi Xuclà (Spain, ALDE) for a period of two years.

He noted that people working for the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan have constantly become subject to sanctions in PACE.

"Those who have raised issues at several meetings with regard to the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts have become subject to sanctions today. The main target is not a person. The head of our delegation today is one person but may be another tomorrow. The main issue here is the national interests of Azerbaijan. We will not allow this interference. We will organize Azerbaijan’s activity in PACE in a higher format. This sanction will have a negative impact on PACE's reputation, not on Azerbaijan’s. We will be represented in the next session, even if with two people. The vacant places will be filled,” Seyidov added.
