World leaders congratulate Azerbaijani president on occasion of Republic Day - UPDATED 

Ilham Aliyev has received congratulations from world leaders on occasion of Republic Day. 

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has praised the successful results of reforms conducted in Azerbaijan as he sent a letter of congratulations to President llham Aliyev on the occasion of the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

“The successful outcomes of large-scale reforms and transformations confidently carried out under your leadership towards ensuring dynamic development of your country, primarily raising the living standard and quality of the population’s life, creating modern industry and infrastructure are praiseworthy," he said in the congratulator message.

He stressed that Uzbekistan, with great pleasure, notes Azerbaijan’s ever increasing influence and the strengthening of its positions on the international scene,” he said.

“I have to emphasize that we, in Uzbekistan, are determined to further strengthen centuries-old ties of friendship and strategic partnership between our countries and expand the mutually beneficial practical cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. It is about speeding up relations, maintaining active exchanges, increasing the volume of trade, implementing promising projects in the field of industry, energy, transport and high technologies and realizing cultural and humanitarian programs," he said.

The Uzbek leader voiced confidence that the upcoming high-level meetings will enable to bring Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan relations to a qualitatively new level and add a practical dimension to bilateral ties between the two countries.

President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“On behalf of the Swiss Federal Council and on my own behalf, I would like to convey my warmest congratulations to you on the occasion of the Republic Day and the centennial of the foundation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on 28 May, 1918,” Berset said in his letter.

“I also send my sincerest wishes for the well-being and prosperity of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people. Let me also assure you that I fondly look back on our meeting on the margins of the World Economic Forum in January which testifies to the excellent relations between our two countries.”

“I look forward to this relationship of trust and friendship continuing to flourish in the months and years ahead,” reads the letter.

President of Hungary Janos Ader has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"Allow me to express my congratulations to you and the people of your country on the occasion of the National Day of Azerbaijan, the Day of the Republic and the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic,” the president of Hungary said in his letter.

“Azerbaijan has achieved outstanding results in economic and social development and today it has become one of the leading countries in the wider region. I wish for this development to continue steadily. I can assure you that Hungary remains committed to further developing the strategic cooperation between our countries.”

“On the occasion of the holiday, I wish you, Mr President, good health and every success in your highly responsible duties as well as peace and prosperity to the Azerbaijani people,” reads the letter.

President of South Korea Moon Jae-in has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Korea, I would like to extend to you and the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan my warmest congratulations on the occasion of the Republic Day and the centennial anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” reads the letter.

“I wish to highly appreciate that in the course of the last quarter century of history as an independent country, your nation has made an extraordinary height of achievements in every area,” the South Korean president said in his letter.

“Based on the established best relations and the common cultural background as Altaic language speaking nations, our relationship, I anticipate, will be further strengthened and deepened in a more accelerated manner in the future,” reads the letter.

“Please accept my best wishes for your continued good health and the everlasting prosperity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”

Emperor of Japan Akihito has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Emperor Akihito congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

“I wish you happiness and the people of Azerbaijan prosperity,” Akihito said in the letter.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“On behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and on my own behalf, I congratulate you and the fraternal people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of your national holiday, the Republic Day,” the Kazakh president said in his letter.

“Azerbaijan has achieved great success in strengthening the foundations of its statehood, improving the welfare of the people, increasing the country’s authority in the international community. I wish further dynamic development for your country and achievement of the goals set under your leadership. I am confident that the strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, based on tradition friendship and mutual understanding, will continue to develop for the sake of well-being of the peoples of the two countries.”

In his letter, Nazarbayev wished good health and inexhaustible energy to Ilham Aliyev, and peace and prosperity to the Azerbaijani people.

Russian President Vladimir Putinhas sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyevon the occasion of Republic Day, AzVision.az reported. 

He also notes that Azerbaijan has had substantial achievements in the economic, social, scientific-technical, humanitarian, and other areas.

“The Republic of Azerbaijan has a massive influence in the international area. I am pleased with the high level of Russia-Azerbaijan relations,” Putin says in the letter.

China's President Xi Jinping has sent a letter of congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Republic Day, AzVision.az reported.

The Chinese leader notes in his letter that Azerbaijan’s economy has seen a rapid growth in recent years, with stability and solidarity prevailing in the country.

“Azerbaijan’s international status and influence is growing day after day. China, as a close friend of Azerbaijan, is pleased with it,” the letter reads.

US President Donald J. Trump has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.

In his letter, Trump congratulated Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people on behalf of the American people on the Republic Day and the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

The coming months will open up opportunities for resolving the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, US President Donald Trump said in his congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s national holiday.

“On behalf of the people of Ukraine and on my own behalf, I sincerely congratulate you on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic,” Poroshenko said in his congratulatory letter.

Exactly a hundred years ago, the Azerbaijani people for the first time in the Muslim East chose a model of democratic development, noted the Ukrainian leader.

In his letter, Poroshenko reiterated that Ukraine’s position on the issue of restoring Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within internationally recognized borders remains unchanged. The president also praised Azerbaijan’s unchanged position on the issue of supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Taking this opportunity, Poroshenko invited the Azerbaijani president to visit Ukraine again.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev.

“On behalf of the people and government of Turkmenistan and on my own behalf, I extend my sincerest congratulations to you and all the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of your country’s national holiday – Republic Day,” Berdimuhamedov said in the congratulatory letter.

Turkey’s Erdogan congratulates President Ilham Aliyev

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev, AzVision.az reports. 

“I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Your Excellency and to the entire Azerbaijani people on the national holiday of Azerbaijan - Republic Day,” the Turkish president said in the congratulatory letter.

Erdogan noted that Azerbaijan's great achievements in all areas and growing international reputation are a source of pride for Turkey.

“It is a great pleasure for us to see your country as one of the leading nations in the region in the year 2018, which is of particular importance as it marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Thanks to your far-sighted leadership, we are convinced that Azerbaijan will continue to build on these achievements,” the Turkish leader said.

King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev

"On behalf of the people and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and on my own behalf, I convey my sincere congratulations to Your Excellency on the occasion of your country’s national holiday – Republic Day. I wish you robust health and happiness, and sustainable development and prosperity to the government and people of Azerbaijan,” the Saudi king said in his letter.

Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia also congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of his country’s national holiday.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to you and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of your country’s national holiday – Republic Day,” the Iranian president said in the congratulatory letter.

Rouhani expressed confidence that the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan which are developing in different areas will further strengthen and expand thanks to the political will and efforts of the two countries’ leaders.  

“On this remarkable day, I wish you robust health and success, and the people of Azerbaijan peace and prosperity,” the Iranian president added.

President of the Republic of Lebanon General Michel Aoun, President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and President of Gabon Republic Ali Bongo Ondimba also congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the Republic Day.
