Hajiyev noted that EU-Azerbaijan ties are developing successfully in the energy, transport coordination, humanitarian, economic, trade and other spheres, and today’s discussion of a draft agreement on strategic partnership is a clear indication of the progress made.
"Unfortunately, there are some in the European Parliament who defend their own personal interests, thinking that this way they can damage EU-Azerbaijan relations. They will fail to achieve their goals,” the spokesperson said.
The EU has always supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, said Hajiyev, emphasizing that despite the position of some forces in the European Parliament that are not happy with developing EU-Azerbaijan relations, bilateral relations will continue to grow.
