Armenian minister deceiving people by statements about Russian arms: Azerbaijan

Against the backdrop of the latest corruption scandal in the Armenian army, the statement by the country’s defense minister, David Tonoyan, about the alleged finalization of arms supply by Russia under a 200 US dollar-loan agreement is nothing more than an attempt to artificially inspire the Armenian people, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense told AzVision.az.

“A while ago, Armenia stated that there were serious problems with the delivery of Russian weapons to Armenia under a 200 US dollar-loan agreement. However, after some time, Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan, contradicting his own earlier remarks, is shamelessly trying to assure everyone that Russia has completely finalized the supply of weapons. This is nothing more than Tonoyan's attempt to deceive the Armenian people,” the Azerbaijani defense ministry said.

The regular dissemination of such information by Armenians is aimed at artificially inspiring the local population against the backdrop of the latest corruption scandal in the army, the Azerbaijani ministry noted.

“As defense minister, Tonoyan should be aware that Russian does not supply any kind of advanced weapons that are not at its army’s disposal to other countries. Undoubtedly, the Russian army really does not possess the types of weapons which the Armenian defense minister proudly talks about, however, the reason for that is simple: these weapons are already outdated and not suitable for use,” the ministry added.
