President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the inauguration of Railway Station Complex in the city.
The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the complex.
Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Closed Joint Stock Company Javid Gurbanov informed the President of the construction of Sumgayit railway station, Baku ring railroad, Laki-Gabala, Astara-Astara railway lines, as well as the work to be carried out under these projects.
The three-story Sumgayit Railway Station occupies an area of 5.5 square kilometers. The building has a waiting hall, ticket offices, an information desk, a server, and baggage rooms.
President Ilham Aliyev then arrived in Baku by Sumgayit-Baku passenger train.
At Baku Railway Station, President Ilham Aliyev viewed new passenger trains, locomotives, and several railway vehicles purchased since 2016.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a tobacco factory owned by Tabaterra CJSC in Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.
Director of Tabaterra CJSC Elman Javanshir told the head of state that the factory will produce international standard cigarettes branded “Made in Azerbaijan”. Built using British, German and Italian technologies, the factory will have the annual production capacity of 11 billion filter cigarettes in three types. It will meet 80% of the country`s demand for tobacco products.
Under the project, which cost $48 million, 200 jobs were created.
The head of state launched the factory.
President Ilham Aliyev then met with staff of enterprises in Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the inauguration of a construction chemicals plant in Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.
Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev informed President Ilham Aliyev of the work carried out in Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park as well as its entities.
Director General of the plant Adam Yayla informed President Ilham Aliyev of the facility.
Products to be manufactured at the plant will be exported to Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, and Iran. The facility will create 60 permanent jobs.
President Ilham Aliyev launched the plant.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has arrived in the city of Sumgayit for a visit.
The head of state first laid flowers at a statue of the national leader in the Heydar Aliyev Park in the center of the city of Sumgayit.
Head of Sumgayit District Executive Authority Zakir Farajov informed President Ilham Aliyev of the work carried out in the park and in the city.
