ECHR responds to Azerbaijani hostage`s family
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has responded to the appeal by Dilgam Askerov`s family who was taken hostage by Armenians in the occupied Kalbajar district of Azerbaijan, Askerov`s son Kurdogly Askerov told AzVision.az.

Kurdoglu said that the response by the ECHR towards my father was unfair.

`Europe applies double standards to not only Azerbaijan, but also Azerbaijani hostages. I have taken official appeals to the ECHR for several times by the help of my father`s lawyer. Unfortunately, the response of the ECHR to our appeals remains the same and does not satisfy us. My father has serious health problems. We have told to prove my father`s health problems. This is double approach. The ECHR shows bias against hostages`, he noted.

`If you want to get proof, you should send your employers to Karabakh to visit my father or grant our appeal`, Kurdoglu stated.

In July of 2014, Russian citizen Dilgam Asgarov and Azerbaijani citizen Shahbaz Guliyev were taken hostage and another Azerbaijani citizen Hasan Hasanov was shot to death by the Armenian servicemen while trying to visit their homeland in Kalbajar. Hasan Hasanov’s body was taken from the enemy and buried in Baku. On December 19, 2014, the “court” of the separatist regime in occupied Nagorno-Karabakh sentenced Dilgam Asgarov to life in prison, Shahbaz Guliyev to 22 years in prison.
