Armenia and Azerbaijan agree on joint border patrols

In a significant step towards resolving their long-standing border dispute, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to deploy their border guards together along agreed-upon sections of the frontier.

This decision came during the eighth meeting of the relevant state commissions on April 19th. Both sides will request their governments to formally authorize the joint patrols.

The agreement establishes a temporary measure until the full border delimitation process is finalized. Importantly, specific sections of the border will be considered delimited based on a jointly agreed-upon description while the complete demarcation is ongoing.
