Armenia should accept basic principles proposed by Azerbaijan for normalization of ties, says Turkey

Armenia should accept the five-point basic principles proposed by Azerbaijan in order to normalize relations, the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Turkey told TurkicWorld, AzVision.az reports.

These principles are a serious impetus to ensure peace and prosperity in the region, and their adoption is in the interests of Armenia, the agency stated.

According to the Turkish President's Administration, the point that says, "opening of transport and communications, building other relevant communications and establishment of cooperation in other areas of mutual interest" is very important for Armenia.

Turkey's continued support for all the steps of Azerbaijan to secure peace and stability in the region has also been noted.

Today, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry named five basic principles for the normalization of relations with Armenia, which were as followed:

- mutual recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of international borders and political independence of each other by states;

- mutual confirmation of the absence of territorial claims to each other and adoption of a legal obligation that no such claim will be made in the future;

- refraining from endangering security towards each other, using threats and force against political independence and territorial integrity, as well as from other circumstances not corresponding the purposes of the UN Charter;

- delimitation and demarcation of the state border, the establishment of diplomatic relations;

- opening of transport and communications, the building of other relevant communications, and establishment of cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
