Official welcoming ceremony held for Venezuelan president in Baku- UPDATED
An official welcoming ceremony has today been held for President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, who is on an official visit in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A guard of honor was arranged for the Venezuelan president in the square decorated with the national flags of the two countries.

The chief of the guard of honor reported to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Ilham Aliyev welcomed his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro.

The national anthems of Venezuela and Azerbaijan were played.

President Ilham Aliyev and President Nicolas Maduro reviewed the guard of honor.

The Venezuelan president saluted the Azerbaijani soldiers.

State and government officials of Azerbaijan were introduced to Nicolas Maduro, and members of the Venezuelan delegation were introduced Ilham Aliyev.

The guard of honor marched in front of President Ilham Aliyev and President Nicolas Maduro to the accompaniment of a military march.

They posed for official photos.

President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, has today visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of national leader, founder and architect of modern Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev.



He also put flowers at the graves of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, outstanding statesman Aziz Aliyev and acclaimed doctor and scientist Tamerlan Aliyev.

Azerbaijan, Venezuela discuss economic ties

Azerbaijan`s Prime Minister Artur Rasizade has met President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro.

Mr. Rasizade said Azerbaijani-Venezuelan relations were on a good level, adding both countries supported each other within the international organizations. The Premier said there was good potential for boosting economic ties between the two countries and stressed the importance of increasing efforts for strengthening bonds in other fields as well.



On Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the sides stressed the significance of solving the problem within the norms of international law and principles of borders` inviolability and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro said his country was interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in overall directions, as well as in economic field. The President also said there were good opportunities for making investment in various fields.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation in the fields of tourism, culture, agriculture, finance.
