  Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan mull bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with his Kyrgyz counterpart Zheenbek Kulubaev, the Foriegn Ministry's press service told AzVision.az. 

The ministers first held the one-on-one meeting, followed by the meeting in an expanded format with the participation of delegations of the two countries.

During the expanded meeting, the sides discussed the issues of bilateral and regional cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as the current situation in the region.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the further enhancement of the historical bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries thanks to the mutual trust and political dialogue between the country's leaders, which is reaffirmed in the "Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic".

FM Bayramov underlined that the reciprocal visits and contacts had fostered the strengthening of the strategic partnership relations, as well as the expansion of the legal framework.

The sides emphasized that the relations of strategic partnership between the two countries had further improved and developed thanks to the activities of the Interstate Council of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between the two countries.

Noting the multifaceted nature of the bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan across various domains, the FMs pointed out the great potential for cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Middle Corridor. They stressed the importance holding days of culture, as well as deepening the cooperation in the field of culture and art. The two also exchanged views on cooperation in the field of green energy production.

The sides underlined the importance of the development of relations between the two countries within regional and international organizations.

FM Bayramov provided insight into Azerbaijan’s COP29 chairmanship, the ongoing negotiations and preparations, noting that this prestigious event creates new prospects for collaboration.

Touching upon the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as the challenges that threaten regional peace building, the minister described the unilateral steps and initiatives directed against the opportunities that emerged for peace as unacceptable.

FM Bayramov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan’s support to the peace and construction process is highly appreciated, describing the secondary school to be built in the Khidirli village of Agdam district on the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic as a clear example of this support.

Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev hailed the dynamic development of relations between the two countries, adding that the reciprocal visits play an important role in the further development of cooperation.

Kulubaev said that Kyrgyzstan always supports the regional peace and construction efforts by Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.

The ministers then made a press statement on the outcomes of the meeting.
