Azerbaijan says Turkey referendum is sign of people’s confidence in leadership
Azerbaijan congratulates the leadership and the people of fraternal Turkey on successful holding of free, fair and democratic referendum, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Mission to the OSCE said in a statement on the April 16 constitutional referendum in Turkey.
The Azerbaijani mission made the statement at a Permanent Council meeting on April 27.

Exemplary high level of voter turnout demonstrated democratic maturity of the Turkish people, which confirmed its will to support the amendments to the Constitution, said the statement.

“As stated by President Ilham Aliyev in his letter to President Erdogan, the results of the referendum are a sign of the people’s trust and confidence in the leadership of Turkey and appreciation of its successful policy and services to make Turkey more developed and powerful,” said the Azerbaijani mission, stressing that this referendum will mark the beginning of a new stage in the history of the brotherly country and reinforce the international role and standing of a stable and powerful Turkey.

“President Aliyev also expressed his confidence that through joint efforts exceptional and friendly relations and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkey will continue to expand and strengthen for prosperity of our peoples and in the best interests of our countries,” added the permanent mission.
