The Korea Meteorological Administration said Chan-hom, which has traveled north along the West Sea, made landfall at North Korea`s Ongjin on Monday morning and then dissipated.
The KMA said as rain clouds head toward North Korea, between 40 to 150 mm of torrential downpours are expected there until Monday night.
The peninsula will emerge completely from the effects of the typhoon on Tuesday with only overcast skies and daytime highs will rise again to between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Chan-hom also caused devastation in China, Japan and Taiwan. Eastern China was hit particularly hard with around 1.91 million people losing their homes in Zhejiang Province.
