Only minor part of minefield maps given by Armenia useful: Azerbaijani presidential aide

Only 25 percent of the minefield maps provided by Armenia to Azerbaijan were useful, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said on Friday, AzVision.az reports.

Hajiyev made the remark at the opening of the "Humanitarian de-mining and sustainable development goals" international conference in Baku.

He noted that the Azerbaijani lands liberated from the Armenian occupation are among the most mined territories in the world.

The presidential aide stressed that Armenian occupiers planted millions of mines during the occupation.

"Instead of planting trees, they planted mines. As a result of the explosions, both military and civilians were killed and injured," Hajiyev emphasized.

He noted that Azerbaijan is carrying out large-scale de-mining works in the liberated territories.
